AS A BREAKFAST creature of habit, I really enjoy having a massive green smoothie every day with an array of delectable (and health boosting) ingredients residing in it.
It makes me feel like a vegan superhero. Or perhaps a bloated sidekick.
Either way, I like it a lot and haven’t craved to dance on the wildside to try something a little bit different.
That is, until today.
Maybe it was the use of my powers rescuing a newly hatched monarch butterfly from its near fated death in my garden, or perhaps the act of secretly eating a friends’ raw chocolate stash the night before that did it (invisibility cloak), but whatever it was, it made me want to shake things up a bit.
Thus, this super simple and delicious sweet chocolate smoothie was created. It felt good to take a walk on the wild side (if the wild side involves crazy morning hair and a face that gets sympathic looks from the early-bird courier men), and I reckon you’ll like it too:
½ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp molasses
1 tsp cacao powder
1 scoop protein powder of choice (for me, it’s the Clean Lean Protein powder in Just Natural, reviewed here by Mr Kramer.
1 cup milk of choice (I used rice milk, but next time I’m coming for you, almond milk)
Add to your cruelty free weapon of choice, such as a noisy blender that screams “hello!” to your neighbours, or you a bullet blender that you can get for under $40 pretty easily – though they’re bachelor sized, and wallah: ready to pour into martini glasses, sprinkle with coconut and almond chunks and inhale. Enjoy! RACHEL WALKER
